McCarthy Tétrault LLP seeks a highly-motivated lawyer to join our Financial Services Group, which is a specialty practice area within our National Business Law Group. This position can be based out of any of our Canadian offices.

We have a pre-eminent lending practice and have been consistently recognized in Canada for our leading financial services expertise including Chambers Global, Chambers Canada, Legal 500, and Lexpert publications. Our clients include foreign and domestic banks, insurance companies, near banks, finance companies, smaller financial services companies, institutional investors, borrowers and project developers.

The ideal candidate will be qualified to practice law in their respective region and have the following credentials:

• Minimum of 5 years expertise on payment solutions and cards such as credit cards, prepaid cards, debit cards, electronic and mobile payment offering, and experience with anti-money laundering legislation, consumer protection legislation and payments legislation, codes of conduct and card network rules;
• Experience drafting and negotiating BIN sponsor agreements, merchant-acquirer agreements and credit card program agreements;
• Excellent academic and professional credentials;
• Strong analytical, communication and drafting skills; and
• Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and client service excellence.

Salary range for Vancouver candidates with 5 to 7 years of experience: $175K to $200K

The successful applicant will work closely with leading business law lawyers and be part of a top-tier team providing sophisticated legal advice to a diverse range of Canadian and international clients.
