Bill C-81, the Accessible Canada Act, Has Passed

In the midst of National AccessAbility Week, as of May 29, 2019, Bill C-81, the Accessible Canada Act, has passed and is now awaiting Royal Assent. The Accessible Canada Act will likely receive Royal Assent by the Federal Government in the coming few weeks.

As we recently reported, a general overview of the federal accessibility legislation can be found here.

Federally regulated employers and service providers should be aware of their upcoming obligations and duties under this new legislation, which may include inter alia: creating accessibility plans, providing feedback tools to address how an organization is fulfilling their accessibility plan, and providing progress reports.

If you have any questions regarding the Accessible Canada Act coming into force, please do not hesitate to contact one of the members of our Labour & Employment group.
