Aakriti holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto with a major in biology and a minor in psychology and environmental ethics. Her inclination towards law began while working in a client-facing role for one of Canada’s leading Property and Casualty insurers. Due to the parallels between insurance and law, Aakriti sought a law degree in England at the University of Birmingham, where she graduated with first-class honours.
During law school, Aakriti remained a blog writer for Birmingham Law School’s Pro Bono Group and a research volunteer for the environmental law project at her school’s Pro Bono Clinic. Further, Aakriti served as a student mentor and law school ambassador in her final year.
Keen to cultivate a nuanced, cross-jurisdictional study of law, Aakriti pursued an LLM at the University of Toronto. During the fall and winter semesters, she served as a member of the Police Oversight Student Working Group for the David Asper Centre for Constitutional Rights. During this experience, she collaborated with her peers to research the fairness of Bill C-20 and contributed to drafting a parliamentary submission. Aakriti also contributed as a writer to the annual Asper Centre Newsletter.
In her spare time, Aakriti enjoys practicing yoga and interior design.
